Switchfoot has been one of my favourite bands for quite a few years. They have some really great songs with often poignant lyrics.
Many of their songs have a kinda timeless feel; the music still sounds good years after it’s been released.
One of their more famous tracks is “Meant to Live” (from “The Beautiful Letdown” album) which gained even more popularity after it was added to the Spiderman soundtrack. It’s an awesome song that talks about everyone’s desire to live a meaningful existence, and to search for something more appealing than the monotony of a mundane day-to-day life.
Switchfoot ‘Meant to Live’ lyrics:
Fumbling his confidence
And wondering why the world has passed him by
Hoping that he’s meant for more than arguments
And failed attempts to fly
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
Somewhere we live inside
Dreaming about providence
And whether mice or men have second tries
Maybe we’ve been living with our eyes half open
Maybe we’re bent and broken
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
Somewhere we live inside
We want more than this world’s got to offer
We want more than this world’s got to offer
We want more than the wars of our fathers
And everything inside screams for second life
