Making your own Sushi on a Rainy Day

In my opinion enjoying life and trying new activities is the best way to experience laughs, thrills and adventures. You may not think that you can have much fun on a rainy day, but there are plenty of creative and fun activities you can do.

If you are the adventurous type who likes activities such as rock-climbing, cycling and skateboarding, then staying indoors on a rainy day might seem frustrating to you. However, it could be the perfect opportunity to embrace your creative side and do some crafts or cooking.

So the next time you are bored on a rainy Saturday afternoon, you could invite your friends over, but rather than just watching a film or playing Partypoker together, why not get creative by trying out a fun hands-on activity like making your own sushi?

How to Make your own Sushi

Even if you are not a chef in the kitchen, making home made sushi is a really fun activity to do with your friends.

Method:

1. Begin by boiling the sushi rice as it states on the packet. This normally takes around 25 minutes. You know when the rice is done because all of the water would have been soaked up and the rice will be sticky.

2. Next, cut cucumber, spring onions and peppers into thin strips and leave to one side. Take some tuna, salmon or prawns and marinade them in some soy sauce and sesame oil.

3. Once the rice is cooked, leave it to cool. While it cools, roll out your sushi mat and seaweed wrap. Then spread the rice over the seaweed wrap but make sure it’s an inch or so away from the edge.

4. Then, take a small amount of your fish and vegetable filling and arrange it in one, straight horizontal line across the rice. Tightly wrap it all up and chop it into several chunks.

Serve with ginger and soy sauce. Enjoy!
