SA’s Bridgette Hartley into Olympic Final

South Africa’s Bridgette Hartley has just had a great race in the 500m Olympic Canoe Sprint Semi-Final.

She came second in her heat to qualify for the semi’s.

In the semi-final she was sixth at the halfway mark, but finished strongly to claim first place. She now goes through to the final on Thursday

Bridgette won a Bronze Medal in the 1000m event at the 2009 Canoe Sprint World Championships. And, by doing so, became the first person from South Africa (and Africa as a a whole) to ever win a medal at the Championships.
