Enough can’t be said of the importance of leading a balanced lifestyle. I believe in living a productive life, and I hate the feeling of wasting a day.
But being productive means being fruitful, it does not necessarily mean being busy.
People often confuse the two.
Yes, sometimes you do require a period of being busy to produce something worthwhile, or something of quality. But don’t get so busy doing one thing and become so focused that you neglect the other areas of life; be fruitful in all areas. And that includes playing and resting.
I think a balanced lifestyle is what brings true joy; being creative, being disciplined, being productive, being happy, being free and sharing life.
Here’s a great little poem, by an unknown author, illustrating these thoughts:
Time is for work, it is the price of success
Take time to play, it is the secret of youth
Take time to read, it is the fountain of wisdom
Take time to be friendly, it is road to happiness
Take time to pray, it is the source of power
Take time to dream, it is hitching your wagon to a star
Take time to love, it is the highest joy in life
Take time to laugh, it is the music of the soul
